Angry PM may impose punishments, after ministers skip his weekly meeting

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering sanctions against Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, Economy Minister Aryeh Deri and Interior Minister Silvan Shalom for not attending the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday morning.
The prime minister was particularly angry with the ministers for absenting themselves without giving him prior notice.
Netanyahu has asked Cabinet Secretary Avichai Mandelblit to look into applying sanctions against Ya’alon, Deri and Shalom, according to a tweet by Amit Segal, Channel 2’s chief political correspondent.
A spokesman for Deri’s bureau said that Deri did not attend the meeting because he felt ill.
Sunday’s cabinet meeting was the third since the government was established less than two months ago.
