Israel’s traffic police deal with a wide range of issues. From accidents to floods to car chases… they thought they’d seen it all, until they were called Thursday to rescue two calves found wandering on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway.
A concerned citizen who noticed the animals called the police, who arrived at the scene on Route 1 and saw the two calves.
According to the police, the two were “very young, bruised and scared.” The animals were also “endangering themselves and the people on the road.”
Two policemen moved the calves to the shoulder of the road and tied them to the safety railing until representatives of the Veterinarian Services arrived. In the meantime, they used their car to protect the animals and gave them cold water to drink.
