Rabbi Yaakov Edelstein, chief rabbi of Ramat Hasharon, dies aged 93
The spiritual leader was hospitalized Monday in serious condition; funeral procession sets out from Netanya

Rabbi Yaakov Edelstein, the chief rabbi of Ramat Hasharon near Tel Aviv, died Thursday aged 93.
Edelstein was hospitalized Monday in serious condition after feeling ill. He had undergone a complex throat operation last year and had been hospitalized several times since then.
A funeral procession set out Thursday afternoon from Kiryat Sanz, in Netanya, through Bnei Brak, to Ramat Hasharon where he was set to be buried.
Edelstein was born in Russia and went to yeshiva in Belarus.
He served Ramat Hasharon since 1950.
