US National Symphony Orchestra names Gianandrea Noseda music director
Italian conductor has been principal guest conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra since 2011

WASHINGTON — The National Symphony Orchestra has named Gianandrea Noseda as its musical director for the 2017-18 season.
Noseda will serve as music director designate in the 2016-2017 season, with music director Christoph Eschenbach, the orchestra said Monday in a news release.
Noseda, who is 51, was named 2015 Conductor of the Year by the magazine Musical America. Born in Milan, he has been music director of the Teatro Regio Torino since 2007.
Noseda was chief conductor of the BBC Philharmonic from 2002 until 2011 and is principal guest conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
