75-year-old woman killed in Netanya, apparently during family fight
Violent ‘incident’ led to elderly victim’s death, according to initial forensic work at the scene; police rule out burglary

Police in Netanya launched a murder investigation Tuesday after the body of a 75-year-old woman was found in an apartment in the coastal city.
Investigators surmised that there was no robbery involved and that it did not appear to be a case of a burglary gone awry, according to Hebrew media.
According to police, initial forensic work at the scene on Binyamin Boulevard indicated the woman may have died in a violent “incident” in the apartment, which is one of several small units in a larger subdivided apartment.
Investigators suspect the killing may have occurred during a family altercation.
The woman’s body was transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in Tel Aviv for forensic analysis.
The incident did not appear to be related to a robbery-murder that took place in Netanya on Sunday.
In that incident, the body of a 79-year-old man, with signs of serious violence, was found in apartment on Nachum Street in the city. His daughter, 50, suffered moderate to serious injuries after an unidentified man hit her. The suspect fled the scene and police opened an investigation.
The following day, the victim’s neighbor was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death which police believe may have been a bungled robbery, Channel 10 reported earlier this week. The suspect’s brother and mother were also arrested although later granted a conditional release while the suspect was remanded in custody for a further nine days.
