An Israeli was killed in an avalanche near Villaroger in France, French media reported Friday.

The Foreign Ministry did not confirm the reports, but said that the Israeli embassy in Paris was aware of an incident involving Israelis and was working with local authorities. Some reports said the woman was a dual French-Israeli national.

According to BFMTV, the Israeli was with four other people and the group was skiing off-piste when the avalanche occurred, sweeping the woman away.

No other members of the group were injured, the report said.

Officials said the risk of avalanches at the time of the accident was deemed to be relatively low and noted that the woman had been properly equipped with a helmet and an avalanche beacon.
