Demanding answers from government, families of hostages kick off march in Tel Aviv

The families of the Israelis being held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, along with supporters, kick off a protest march in Tel Aviv to call for their release.

The marchers will be walking to Jerusalem in the coming days, where they will converge on the Prime Minister’s office to demand their loved ones’ freedom.

Shelly Shem-Tov makes an impassioned plea for the release of her son Omer, who was abducted from a music festival ravaged by Hamas terrorists.

“I don’t know if you can imagine what it’s like for me, as a mother, to be unable to do anything for my son. We’re losing people,” she says, mentioning the Marciano family, who were told today that their daughter, a soldier, had died in captivity.

“Where are you?” Shem-Tov says. “I demand that Benjamin Netanyahu and the cabinet give us answers and take action. We have no strength left.”

“We are running out of time,” says Yuval Haran of Kibbutz Be’eri, seven of whose family members are hostages in Gaza.

“I call on all of the people of Israel, the mayors, the Knesset members and the youth groups, to march alongside us; to demand an answer from the decision makers why our families are still in Gaza.”

The protest march comes with Israel and Hamas reportedly closing in on a deal that will see the release of dozens of women and children held by the terror group.
