The Health Ministry records another 4,034 coronavirus infections between Monday night and Tuesday night, bringing the number of active cases in the country to 42,528.
Of these, 534 are in serious condition, 138 of them on ventilators. Another 213 are in moderate condition, with the rest displaying mild or no symptoms.
Another six deaths are logged since this morning, bringing the toll to 1,147.
The data shows that 9.7 percent of test results that came back today are positive. It says 47,529 tests were conducted yesterday, and 33,861 so far today.
With Israel poised to head to a nationwide lockdown on Friday, the Health Ministry data shows that 3,981 new diagnoses yesterday were outside the country’s virus hotspots — namely the cases were not recorded in cities flagged as “red” due to high infection rates, among returnees from abroad or among residents of nursing homes.
