Likud joins Otzma Yehudit petition to bar Arab parties from running in election

The ruling Likud party has joined extremist party Otzma Yehudit’s petition to the High Court of Justice to block the Arab Joint List from running in the September 17 election, Channel 12 reports.

The Joint List includes all four Arab-majority parties: Ra’am, Ta’al, Hadash and Balad. A few days ago the Central Elections Committee rejected efforts to bar the Joint List from running.

The High Court is unlikely to accept the appeal.
