Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backed out of the Sharm El-Sheikh summit yesterday after accepting an invitation for two reasons, a source familiar with the details tells The Times of Israel.

“Turkey’s protest definitely had an effect on Netanyahu not attending the summit,” says the source.

“In addition, the fact that [Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud] Abbas was invited, the chance of coming close to him is something Netanyahu wanted to stay clear of.”
