Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar Party has reached a record number of 25 seats in a new poll from The Times of Israel’s Zman Yisrael sister site.
The poll shows Yashar has expanded its lead on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party from two seats in last week’s Zman poll to four seats this week.
Likud has plummeted by 10 seats since the February 28 start of the Iran war, when Zman had the party at 31 seats, compared to 21 seats today.
Naftali Bennett’s Together Party also continues to struggle, dropping two seats from last week’s poll to 13. The party polled at 30 seats after Bennett announced his merger with Yair Lapid in April.
Despite Yashar’s boost, the breakdown between the blocs remains largely unchanged, with Eisenkot likely unable to form a coalition without help from one of the majority-Arab parties.
Netanyahu’s current coalition would receive 51 seats, compared to the Jewish-majority opposition parties that would receive 58 seats, with the two Arab-majority parties netting 11 seats in total.
The new party headed by former ministers Chili Tropper and Yoaz Hendel does not cross the electoral threshold; nor does Benny Gantz’s party with Dedi Simhi.
The Zman survey was conducted online and over the phone today and yesterday, with a representative sample of 500 Jewish and Arab respondents participating and a 4.4% margin of error.
The results were as follows:
Yashar: 25 seats
Likud: 21 seats
Together: 13 seats
Yisrael Baytenu: 10 seats
Democrats: 10 seats
Shas: 9 seats
United Torah Judaism: 8 seats
Otzma Yehudit: 8 seats
Hadash-Ta’al: 6 seats
Religious Zionism: 5 seats
Ra’am: 5 seats
