A US Capitol Police officer assigned to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s security detail was arrested in Israel last month after allegedly getting into a fight while intoxicated, ABC News reported Tuesday.
The agent, part of the US Capitol Police Dignitary Protection Detail, was in town ahead of Pelosi’s trip in order to coordinate security protocol with Israeli counterparts as is common ahead of visits by foreign leaders.
Pelosi was in Israel from February 15 to the 17 leading a delegation of seven other House Democrats.
The security officer was hospitalized following the altercation. He was then given a plane ticket back to the United States, according to the report, which cited four sources familiar with the matter.
The officer was not charged by Israeli authorities over the alleged fight.
Pelosi’s office and the Capitol Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
