Four-year-old dies after falling out of window

Doctors at Assaf HaRofeh Medical Center were forced to pronounce the death of a four-year-old boy who fell out of a window on the seventh floor of his Ramle home on Thursday.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident, but preliminary reports indicated that the father of the boy had left him alone at home to pick up his siblings from daycare when the tragedy occurred.

The boy likely tried to climb onto the windowsill and fell.

According to Channel 2, the boy was asleep when the father slipped out of the apartment, and picked up the children from a playground “meters away” from their home.

Passersby who observed the fall attempted unsuccessfully to resuscitate the boy before the paramedics arrived. However, representatives of Magen David Adom said that by the time the medical staff arrived at the scene, the boy had no pulse or heartbeat, and he was officially pronounced dead in the hospital a short while later.

According to the B’Terem child safety organization, four children and teenagers have been killed in the past year in falls from high places.
