Welcome to The Times of Israel’s Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what’s happening in Israel, the Middle East, and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday.
Today’s panel comprises editor David Horovitz and senior analyst Haviv Rettig Gur, along with host Raoul Wootliff.
On today’s show, after a week of Hamas attacks on Israel and IDF counterstrikes in Gaza, we look at the latest developments, and what’s driving them. What are the goals of both sides? What has been achieved so far? Is a ceasefire imminent?
In one of the most controversial incidents of recent days, an Israeli airstrike flattened a tower in Gaza City that housed offices of the Associated Press, Al Jazeera and other media outlets. The IDF warned occupants of the building before the strike, giving them time to evacuate, and says it was a legitimate military target. But is merely making that claim sufficient?
Finally, we look at the US administration’s role, and ask whether President Joe Biden has been missing in action.
