Avigdor Liberman: What matters in next election is that ‘Zionist bloc’ gets 63 mandates

MK Avigdor Liberman, who leads the hawkish Yisrael Beytenu party, writes on X that the ‘Zionist’ bloc in the Knesset must reach 63 out of 120 seats in the next elections, and that this result is more important than the specific breakdown of parties within the bloc.

“Faced with a failing prime minister who cares only about himself, the Zionist bloc must present a cohesive team of experienced people who will work together for the sake of the citizens of Israel,” he writes.

“The really important question is not which party will be the largest, but rather how the Zionist bloc will, together, arrive at 63 mandates,” he concludes.

The tweet comes after recordings were released yesterday of former prime minister Naftali Bennett assailing the current government as “stupid” and pledging to “unite the various centrist parties” against it, adding: “We’ll talk to Liberman, to [former MK Gadi] Eisenkot, and get everyone into one big party.”

Bennett also met yesterday with former MK Gadi Eisenkot, the former number 2 in Benny Gantz’s Blue and White party.

Last month, Bennett met with Liberman after the latter called for the two to galvanize the “Zionist opposition party heads” to come up with a “basic outline” for the next government.

According to a poll published by Channel 12 last week, a union between Bennett and Liberman would be the biggest party if elections were held today, with 30 seats, as opposed to Likud with 25.
