National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has arrived at the scene of a deadly terror shooting at Ramot Junction in northern Jerusalem.
He is conducting a situational assessment with Deputy Police Commissioner Avshalom Peled and Jerusalem District Commander Amir Arzani, police say. Police sappers are still clearing the scene.
Police chief Danny Levy — who is currently in Germany on an official visit — is not present at the scene of the shooting.
Police are “currently trying to understand how they [the terrorists] got here, who brought them, and I believe that within a short time we will reach everyone who is involved,” says Assistant Commissioner Shlomi Bachar, who heads the Zion Region in Jerusalem, to Channel 12.
Police have blocked Route 1 through the Arazim Tunnel to eastbound traffic, law enforcement adds.
