Liberman accuses Netanyahu of being ‘main guilty party’ in October 7 massacre

Addressing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a so-called 40-signatures debate in the Knesset, Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman declares that the premier is responsible for “the largest and most terrible massacre in the history of the Jewish people after the Holocaust,” calling him “the main guilty party in [the October 7] massacre.”

A 40-signatures debate is a monthly opportunity for lawmakers to compel the prime minister to speak and answer his opponents after they garner the requisite number of signatories on a petition.

Liberman says that the 55-page document recently released by Netanyahu containing his answers given to State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman as part of the ombudsman’s since-frozen investigation into the October 7 attack was incomplete, and failed to mention a cabinet meeting in November 2018 when Liberman “demanded to begin a large-scale operation to eradicate the Hamas regime.”

Netanyahu did not mention it in his testimony because “you want to escape from responsibility and rewrite history,” Liberman says.

Instead, Netanyahu began transferring Qatari cash to Hamas in order to buy quiet, Liberman says, adding that shortly before the attack, Netanyahu asked “to increase the money that is transferred every month to Hamas in the Gaza Strip.”

“You created a zone of immunity for terrorists when you pledged never to attack Qatar again. Thanks to you, the Qataris won a defense agreement from the United States that no country in the world has,” he continues. “Where is the total victory? You promised us total victory, you brought total disgrace.”
