The last two victims of this morning’s deadly terror shooting in Jerusalem to be identified are named as Rabbi Mordechai Steintzag, 79, and Sarah Mendelson, 60.
Steintzag, who immigrated to Israel decades ago from the US, owned a well-known bakery in Beit Shemesh called “Dr. Mark’s Bakery.” He also worked as a cardiologist, according to a death notice shared by the establishment.
Mendelson was part of the leadership of Bnei Akiva, a religious Zionist youth movement. She managed relations with local authorities in the movement’s treasury. She had been on her way to work at Bnei Akiva’s Jerusalem office when she was killed, according to Hebrew reports.
A total of six people were killed in today’s attack at Ramot Junction in northern Jerusalem, and at least 20 others were injured. Both perpetrators, Palestinian residents of the West Bank, were shot dead at the scene by a soldier and an armed civilian.
