Man ordered to pay ex NIS 670,000 for threatening to share her naked photos
Threat to publish pictures came after woman filed police complaint against her former boyfriend for assaulting her

A court ordered a man from central Israel to pay NIS 670,000 ($190,000) to his ex-girlfriend for threatening to publish revealing photos of her after they broke up.
According to a Channel 2 news report Tuesday, the man, 33, and the woman, 27, started going out six years ago and broke up nearly two years later.
However, the man did not take the split well and allegedly went on to assault the woman on a number of occasions.
In one instance, he spat on her and pulled her hair after spotting her at a cafe in Tel Aviv, while in another case he ambushed her as she entered her apartment building, punched her in the face, knocked her to the ground and ripped her shirt, according to the report.
As a result of the incidents, the woman filed a police complaint. A day later, she received a text message from the man threatening to share “intimate pictures” of her from when she was 17 years old if she did not withdraw the complaint.
“Let’s finish this story nicely and respectfully,” the report quoted the text message as saying. “Believe me that I can take revenge. I will use the pictures I have, so please don’t bring me to this situation.”
The man was eventually charged and convicted, although the report did not say what he was convicted for.
The woman later filed a civil complaint against the man, saying he had caused her to live in constant fear he would publish the photos.
“My life was ruined,” she said in court, according to the report. “I can’t ride on public transportation or walk down the street. Every man that stands next to me in the supermarket I imagine how I will respond if he attacks me.”
“I am a strong girl and want to succeed. It is important to me that he pay for what he did to me, so that I will get better and put this period behind me,” she added.
During a court hearing, the man apologized for his actions, saying he was full of regret and wished the affair had never happened.
A judge at the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court ruled in the woman’s favor, ordering the man to pay her NIS 670,000 in damages, as well as another NIS 125,000 ($35,000) for her legal fees.
The judge also ruled that the man was prohibited from sharing the photos and must destroy them, according to the report.
