Anti-government activist Yolanda Yavor, a Tel Aviv University lecturer from Or Akiva who was arrested on Friday for social media posts allegedly inciting violence against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others, has announced a hunger strike, Hebrew media reports.
A lawyer for Yavor, who is detained at the Kishon detention center in northern Israel, slams the investigation as politically motivated, arguing that Yavor isn’t dangerous and that her detention is putting her life in danger.
Yavor was arrested for calling for a “rebellion” against Netanyahu on Facebook, writing that “the only choice is… to fight the traitor, the mouthpieces, the damned collaborators and his bargain-bin Freikorps militias with all the strength and all means — or not to be.
She hashtagged “Dictators are not overthrown at the ballot box,” “Netanyahu is a traitor,” and “We’re coming for you.”
