The US embassy in Jerusalem lifts a shelter-in-place order that it issued for all employees and families late Sunday night, as Israel appeared on the verge of resuming its conflict with Iran.
The sides did indeed exchange fire hours later, but a ceasefire was restored by Monday evening following pressure from US President Donald Trump.
With the truce holding through Tuesday evening, the embassy announces that it has lifted the shelter-in-place order.
“As a result of changes to the current security situation in Israel, [IDF] Home Front Command has updated its guidelines, which permit full activity with no restrictions, except for in certain communities in the north of Israel,” the US embassy posts on X. “The shelter-in-place order for US government employees and their family members has ended.”
The embassy says it will resume operations tomorrow.
