The Football Association of Ireland [FAI] is expected to request to move its October 4 UEFA Nations League game against Israel from Dublin to a neutral venue, due to protesters’ demands, according to Irish broadcaster RTE.
The FAI is expected to make a decision on whether it will request the change after its board meeting Thursday, RTE says.
If the UEFA approves the move, the game could be moved from Dublin’s Aviva Stadium to another country, with a venue in Hungary being considered as a possible alternative.
Protesters in Ireland have been calling for the team to boycott its fixtures with Israel.
Anti-Israel group Irish Sport For Palestine has launched a public campaign to “Stop The Game,” and disrupted the team’s match against Qatar in May by throwing tennis balls with the Palestine flag logo onto the pitch.
