The Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group says the two terror suspects who were shot dead by Border Police officers after surrendering to them in the West Bank city of Jenin yesterday were members of its military wing.

In a statement, the Al-Quds Brigades identifies Youssef Asasa, 37, as a “field commander” and Mahmoud Abdallah, 26, as “one of the fighters” in the terror group’s local wing in Jenin.

Footage from the incident showed the two men exiting a building with their hands raised before they were killed.

The Justice Ministry’s Department for Internal Police Investigations has opened a criminal investigation into a Border Police officer involved in the incident.
