Israel said to agree to US request to halt strikes on Syrian forces

The US reportedly asked Israel to halt its strikes on Syrian military forces in southern Syria.
Israel agreed to halt the attacks later Tuesday night, a US official tells the Axios news site.
Israel has been striking Syrian military forces even though Damascus gave Jerusalem a heads up before sending troops to southern Syria, insisting that the move was not directed at Israel, rather to break up clashes between Druze militias and Bedouin gangs, the US official says.
Israel has claimed that its strikes have been aimed at protecting Syria’s Druze community.
