Qatar calls on the international community to pressure Israel to live up to its commitments under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza, placing the blame for the delay in its implementation squarely on the Jewish state.
“Israel has obligations to fulfill under the ceasefire agreement,” says Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari. “The mediators continue their efforts to expedite the implementation of the second phase of the agreement. Security matters are very important for this.”
“While Hamas has met its obligations, the international community must pressure Israel to fulfill its obligations,” says Ansari.
In fact, the plan calls for Hamas’s full disarmament, which the Palestinian terror group has so far refused to do.
“It is clear to the international community who is obstructing the implementation of the agreement,” he adds. “The full responsibility lies on the Israeli side.”
An increase in Israeli strikes in Gaza over recent days is “nothing more than an attempt to derail the plan’s implementation and block peaceful solutions,” he charges.
