IDF to investigate video of soldier kicking elderly Palestinian man during West Bank raid

The IDF says it will investigate footage showing soldiers kicking an elderly Palestinian man in the West Bank earlier this week.

The video showed a man walking on a street in the West Bank town of Tubas on Wednesday in front of soldiers, one of whom then kicks him forcefully, causing him to fall.

“The soldier’s conduct as reflected in the video is not in accordance with procedures, and the case will be investigated,” the military tells The Times of Israel in response to a query.

The IDF says that it had imposed a curfew on Tubas as it launched a major counter-terrorism operation in the area, and as such, civilians were not permitted to be outside.

“The suspect in the video did not stop despite requests from the force, who then initiated a suspect arrest procedure that included firing into the air,” the army says, adding that the man was released after questioning.
