Danon: US declaration should be ‘reality check’ for Palestinians

Israel’s ambassador to the UN Danny Danon tells the UN Security Council “every member of this council must send a clear message there is never an excuse for violence. Violence must never be used as a threat.”

Danon shows off an antique coin from “the second Jewish temple” to highlight the ancient Jewish connection to Israel’s capital.

He says the recognition of Jerusalem “should serve as a reality check for the Palestinians and for the nations of the world” that “recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is a critical and necessary step for peace.”

Danon insists that “this declaration is a positive step.”
