A senior Israeli official tells Channel 12 that Israel is currently “defenseless” against the drone threat from Hezbollah.
“At the moment, we are defenseless in the face of this deadly reality,” says the unnamed official, who Channel 12 describes as someone involved in security cabinet discussions.
The official says that Israel is using makeshift methods to defend against the surge in drone use and “without solutions on the diplomatic stage,” a reference to Israel being limited in its ability to carry out widespread offensive operations in Lebanon due to pressure from the US due to the talks with Iran.
“The truth is our hands are tied and that needs to change soon,” the official says, adding that civilian area are sitting ducks to the cheap Hezbollah attack drones.
Channel 12 also reports that the IDF has thinned out troops in southern Lebanon to avoid exposing them to the drones.
The report says the IDF is pushing the government to authorize a wider operation.
