The prize committee awards three prizes, each of $1 million, to six world renowned laureates, in the categories of “past,” “present” and “future.”
In the “past” category, Prof. Peter R. Brown and Prof. Alessandro Portelli were chosen to jointly receive the prize. In the “present” category is Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. In the “future” category Dr. Cyrus Chothia, Prof. David Haussler and Prof. Michael S. Waterman were chosen to share the prize.
The laureates, who donate 10% of their prize money towards 20 doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships, will be honored at a ceremony on May 17, 2015, at Tel Aviv University.
