A Palestinian woman from the West Bank town of Ramallah was arrested after it was discovered she was pretending to be an Israeli in order to take a cleaning job at a Jerusalem hospital, police said in a statement Monday.

Police said the woman is suspected of  forgery, impersonation, and entering Israel without a permit.

The 19-year-old worked for over a month at the Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem by adopting the identity of an Israeli friend, the Hebrew media Ynet website reported Monday.

She was to be brought for a hearing later in the day to extend her detention.

West Bank residents require special permits to enter or work in Israel, although thousands do so illegally.
