The father of popular Israeli singer Eyal Golan has been arrested on suspicion of committing an indecent act against a 20-year-old woman.
Danny Biton, 67, who has already served two years behind bars after reaching a plea bargain on a series of sexual offenses, appeared Wednesday morning at the magistrate’s court in coastal Hadera, where his remand was extended until the evening hours.
He will then be put under house arrest.
According to police suspicions, Biton gave a ride to the woman, whom he already knew, from the city of Or Akiva, where he lives, to Petah Tikva, near Tel Aviv.
When he arrived at their destination, he allegedly kissed her on the cheek and the head against her will. She filed a complaint with the police at the end of last month. Biton denies the charge.

Biton’s lawyer Nir Zano said there was no precedent for asking a court to remand a suspect for five days for kissing on the cheek a woman who had given him her number. It was “pure thuggery,” he added.
In April 2015, Biton was sentenced to two years in jail after being convicted of procuring minors for purposes of prostitution, obstructing justice and destroying evidence.
He and his famous son are not in contact.
