With bar mitzvah dance, Labor MK swats down rumors of his death

As rumors swirled of his death, a Labor Party lawmaker was forced to clarify that he was not only alive and well but dancing at a bar mitzvah.
After a message was widely shared by ultra-Orthodox journalists on the WhatsApp messaging app that Nachman Shai had died from cardiac arrest, Shai, who earned the nickname “the national consoler” while serving as army spokesman during the Gulf War, provided comfort to all those concerned by letting them know he was in fact quite all right.
“Thank you for all those concerned, I’m alright,” tweeted Shai, 70.
Speaking later with Channel 10 news, Shai said, “I am 100 percent with you, with us, with everyone.”
“Something bad happened but it is okay. I am absolutely here,” Shai said, although he did not say what had happened to him.
He also said he did not know who had started the rumor.
For those still skeptical, a number of Shai’s colleagues from the Zionist Union, a combination of the Labor and Hatnua parties, provided further proof of life.
“The proof, photographed in real time,” tweeted MK Yoel Hasson along with a picture of himself and Shai at a cafe.

Not content with proving he was merely alive, Zionist Union MK Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin shared a video on Twitter of Shai dancing at the bar mitzvah.
