A 29-year-old woman said she was tasered and beaten by a group of young women while visiting Jerusalem on Tuesday night, according to a Hebrew media report Wednesday.

Rajeda Othman, from the Arab village of Abu Ghosh just outside the capital, told the Walla news site that the incident occurred when she and a female friend were walking in Zion Square. “My friend said something to me in Arabic, and there was a group of five girls walking towards us,” Othman told the news site. “One of them hit my friend with her shoulder and said, ‘Arab whore.'”

Othman said she and her friend ignored them, but the girls continued to curse them and one of them pulled a taser out of her pocket. She told Walla that she decided to confront the girl.

“I told her I’m from Abu Ghosh, the village of peace,” she said. “Yes we are Arabs, but not all Arabs are terrorists or bad.”

She said the girls continued screaming abuse at her, causing her to drop her drink. Then they pushed her and zapped her several times with the taser.

Othman said that she fell down on the ground and the girls continued hitting and tasering her. One of them took her cellphone after it fell from her hand, and ran away with it screaming, “Arab, Arab,” she said.

She was covered in bruises and marks from being electrocuted.

Othman and her friend called the police who came immediately and detained several suspects, one of whom was in possession of her cellphone. The suspects were questioned and released under restrictive conditions.
