A 12-year-old Israeli girl was killed Wednesday in a traffic accident during a family trip to Russia, the Foreign Ministry said.

The accident happened in the south-eastern city of Khabarovsk, 30 kilometers from the border with China.

A local resident, who was in the car with the girl, was also killed in the crash.

The ministry said there were four people in the vehicle, including the girl’s parents who were lightly injured and taken to a local hospital.

The cause of accident was not known and local authorities opened an investigation.

The Foreign Ministry said it was in contact with the family to bring the body back to Israel for burial.
