Palestinian seriously injured in failed knife attack on soldier

A young Palestinian man was seriously injured on Sunday in a scuffle with soldiers he tried to attack at a checkpoint at the Gush Etzion Junction in the West Bank.
Initial reports said the man approached the soldiers at around midday and ignored their warnings to halt. He then attacked one of the soldiers with a knife he had hidden beneath his shirt, but was himself injured by the weapon. None of the IDF personnel was injured.

The soldiers were positioned at a temporary checkpoint at the junction to secure a Jerusalem-to-Hebron bike ride and for Jerusalem Day.
The Palestinian received first aid treatment from a Magen David paramedic team before being hospitalized at the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem.
