Police to charge 11 with stockpiling weapons
Cache found near Bedouin village includes rifles, machine guns and ammunition; police suspect criminal, not political, motives

The Israel Police announced Thursday that it would press charges against 11 people suspected of storing a cache of weapons in a warehouse near the the southern Bedouin town of Hura.

Last month, police discovered the warehouse filled with rifles, machine guns, ammunition and a LAW (light anti-tank weapon) missile. Police have ruled out nationalistic motives, saying that the suspects planned to sell their cache to criminal elements for financial gain.
The suspects were arrested last month and detained pending the police investigation, which is still ongoing. The weapons and ammunition were confiscated by the police.
East of Beersheba, Hura is one of seven official Bedouin towns in Israel, established in 1989.
