Activists march in East Jerusalem to oppose home eviction
In West Bank, police arrest settlers for clashing with Palestinians; Jordanian protesters mark Nakba Day with march towards border

Three hundred Palestinian and left-wing activists held a protest march in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah Friday against the state’s plan to evict Arab residents from a house in the neighborhood.
The protest was the first of its kind in over a year. In the past, demonstrations used to take place in the neighborhood on a weekly basis.
The High Court of Justice is scheduled to rule on a petition filed on the matter on Monday. Arab residents’ representatives argue that the house in question was not purchased legitimately by Jewish investors.
Earlier Friday at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem, Arab protesters threw rocks at a tourist bus. No one was reported injured in the incident.
In the West Bank, police arrested two residents of the Amona settlement on suspicion of throwing stones at Palestinians who clashed with IDF soldiers near the settlement fences. According to the police, 200 Palestinians rioted and started a fire on the scene. Police and military forces dispersed the demonstrators using non-lethal riot dispersal weapons.
In Jordan, a large group of protesters gathered in the capital Amman in preparation for a “return march” toward the Israeli border, marking the 65th anniversary of the Palestinian “Nakba”. Jordanian security forces were posted at the al-Karame area near the Israeli border, where the marchers were expected to pass.
