Firefighters from US to be dispatched to Israel — report

Dozens of firefighters from the US will make their way to Israel to bolster the country’s own forces, exhausted after four days of intense firefighting efforts around the country, according to Channel 2.

The move is part of a deal worked out between Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan and US officials.

According to the report, 50 firefighters with experience battling large blazes will be deployed to Israel, where they will be dispatched as needed.

Israel’s firefighting services are already stretched thin after four days of battling blazes and rain is not forecast until Tuesday, meaning the rash of wildfires, fed by dry, windy conditions, could last another several days.
