IDF chief recalls hostages at Rosh Hashanah dinner in Gaza, wishes troops a ‘much, much better’ New Year

At a Rosh Hashanah dinner to usher in the Jewish New Year in the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza last night, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi recalls the hostages held by Hamas since October 7, and expresses hope for a “much, much better” new year.

“North and south of us, there are hostages who we very much want to return to us, and many bereaved families were added to us with great sorrow this year,” he tells soldiers around the dinner table.

“May this year be much, much better than the previous year, and together we will make sure to act and succeed.”
