Israel ‘optimistic’ about possibility of eventual Iran regime collapse — report

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is holding a meeting with Defense Minister Israel Katz and security chiefs this evening, Channel 12 reports, as Israel is said to be “optimistic” about the possibility that the Iranian regime will collapse.

“There is no deadline for the campaign,” a senior Israeli official tells the outlet. “As long as the price the home front pays continues to go down and there aren’t US losses, Israel and the US are continuing with full force.”

If the campaign against the regime continues, Israeli officials believe that the fall of the regime in Iran is a possibility, reports Channel 12.

“We are optimistic about the ability to cause the regime to collapse,” says a security official. “It is being hunted every day. It is slowly being eaten from within. Within the regime, there is confusion and power struggles that weren’t there for decades.”

The official also says that “Russia and China are running away from it and not intervening. This regime is harming its neighbors and countries with gradually cut ties with them, that is in addition to the economic pressure and the continuing sanctions.”

Regime collapse, says the official, “ostensibly seems to be far off, but it could come in an instant.”

Israeli officials identify sharp disagreements among top Iranian officials, especially between President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, according to the outlet. There is also a disconnect between the military leadership and forces in the field, and a lack of coordination in decision-making among senior leadership.
