After a spate of fatal stabbings involving minors, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Education Minister Yoav Kisch in his office.
The premier instructs the pair to step up their ministries’ activities to combat violence among youth, through both prevention in the classroom and law enforcement, his office says.
“We are all shocked by the despicable murders. We cannot accept this, and we must stop it and nip it in the bud,” Netanyahu says.
Last week on Independence Day, a 21-year-old restaurant employee was stabbed to death in Petah Tikva. Police arrested eight minors in connection to the incident.
A 19-year-old was killed in a stabbing days later while leaving his house Friday night in Beersheba. Three 16-year-olds were detained on suspicion of involvement.
Overnight, a 16-year-old from a northern Bedouin town was stabbed to death in Hatzor Haglilit. Police detained two men today, one of them on suspicion of attempting to obstruct the investigation.
