Yemen’s FM says Houthis using Bab al-Mandeb strait to mirror Iran’s Hormuz pressure
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAfrah al-Zouba, the foreign minister designate of Yemen’s internationally recognized Saudi-backed government, says the Houthis are seeking to replicate Iran’s model of trying to impose control on international shipping around the Strait of Hormuz in the Bab el-Mandeb strait.
The group has been emboldened by what she calls an insufficiently serious international response to attacks on commercial shipping over the past years, al-Zouba tells a small group of journalists, including Reuters.
