A 65-year old man was killed in a paragliding accident in the Lower Galilee, rescue workers said.

The man and several of his friends had paraglided off Mount Tabor on Saturday afternoon. When he failed to show up at the designated meeting point afterwards and was unreachable on his phone, his friends alerted police.

His body was later found several hours later in an open field outside the nearby moshav Shadmot Dvora still attached to the paraglider.

Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police and air safety investigators were investigating the accident. His body was sent for an autopsy amid suspicions he may have had a heart attack in the air, Israel Radio reported.

The investigators were also looking at the paraglider.
