‘A great miracle’: Shas chair Deri welcomes Gaza ceasefire, hostage deal

Shas chairman Aryeh Deri welcomes the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal, calling it a “great miracle.”
In a video statement sent to the press, the ultra-Orthodox politician says that nobody had imagined that such a deal was possible and that previous proposals “spoke of a complete withdrawal from the Strip, leaving Hamas in power, and raising a white flag.”
“Who would have thought that we would receive all the hostages, living and dead, and that IDF soldiers would remain in the field, controlling more than 50 percent of the Strip, until Hamas is dismantled and another force enters,” he asks. “This is a great miracle and tremendous divine assistance.”
