At a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken signals time is running out for Iran to rejoin the nuclear deal with world powers.

“We are getting closer to the point at which returning to the JCPOA will not recapture the benefits of the JCPOA,” says Blinken, citing Iranian enrichment, building more advanced centrifuges and gaining additional knowledge.

He reiterates the US preference for diplomacy, but stresses that “the runway is getting shorter.”

Referencing Lapid’s threat to use force, Blinken says without elaborating: “We are prepared to turn to other options if Iran doesn’t change course.”
