The Finance Ministry has reached an agreement with the Defense Ministry to immediately transfer an additional NIS 15 billion in budget funds for the military.

The agreement, mediated by the National Security Council, comes after the Defense Ministry had been demanding NIS 40 billion in additional funds in recent weeks amid a shortfall due to wartime spending.

The Finance Ministry emphasizes that, as a result of the compromise agreement, the 2026 state budget won’t have to be reopened, thereby avoiding the need for new taxes or cuts to public services.

In addition, it was agreed to establish an oversight mechanism for the Finance Ministry, together with the Defense Ministry, to monitor expenditures requested by the defense establishment.
