Iran’s Araghchi says US ‘threats’ are impediment to negotiations on final deal

Talks to reach a final deal between Tehran and Washington won’t re-start if US threats continue, Iran’s foreign minister says, after US President Donald Trump warned he would “finish the job” if an agreement is not reached.
“Negotiations on final deal will not commence if threats continue. Honor your signature,” Abbas Araghchi writes in a post on X.
An interim deal signed last month by Iran and the US calls upon both sides to refrain from both the threat and the use of force against each other.
The top Iranian envoy’s statement comes hours after reported attacks on two commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state television said a liquefied natural gas tanker came under attack off the coast of Oman after ignoring warnings, but did not directly claim the assault. There was no mention of the second vessel.
