Residents of Kibbutz Zikim on the border with the Gaza Strip were briefly instructed to shelter overnight Friday-Saturday amid fears of an infiltration into the community.

The incident began shortly after 1 a.m. after Zikim’s security coordinator reported a hole in the kibbutz’s perimeter fence.

The IDF immediately said that it had not identified any crossing of the Gaza border, but was scanning the area to rule out any possible incidents.

It is unclear when the hole in the fence was made, the military added.

An hour later, the military ruled out any security incident.

No sirens were activated in the community during the incident.
