Smotrich seeks to roll back tax hikes on plasticware, sweetened drinks, in 1st move as minister
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIn his first decision as finance minister, Smotrich reportedly instructs officials to roll back the tax hikes on single-use plasticware and sweetened drinks that were put in place by the previous government.
The decision is announced following Smotrich’s first meeting with top officials in his ministry.
Ultra-Orthodox Israelis perceived the tax hike as targeting them in particular, due to their reliance on such products.
