Soldiers were filmed today in Khirbet al-Tawil, near the Palestinian West Bank village of Aqraba south of Nablus, while a settler broke into a water cistern there that, according to Palestinians, is located on private land belonging to a Palestinian resident.

Doron Meinert, an activist with the Israeli group Looking the Occupation in the Eye who was assisting Palestinians at the scene, told The Times of Israel that when he arrived, one of the settlers called IDF troops — who were apparently local settlement defense forces, known as Hagmar.

He said those forces then called the police, who sought to remove him from the area on the grounds that it had been declared a closed military zone.

Meinert argued that he was not within the area covered by the order and later refused to leave. He is now under arrest and is expected to face a judge tomorrow. He spoke with The Times of Israel from the police station.

The settlers who were at the scene were not arrested. The IDF has yet to respond to an inquiry on the incident.

In a separate incident, footage published this morning showed young children throwing stones at a Palestinian ambulance in Hebron. No injuries were reported.
